Nine out of 10 IT decision-makers use cloud-based IT solutions.
Around 86% of businesses in Singapore claim that cloud is key to surviving the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the latest survey by Alibaba Cloud.
The survey also revealed that Singapore leads the Southeast Asia region in cloud adoption, with nearly nine out of 10 IT decision-makers (ITDM) saying their companies are already using cloud-based IT solutions.
Despite this, the country is also the least satisfied with its cloud-based IT solutions in the region. The 79% of Singapore ITDMs were satisfied with how their company’s existing IT infrastructure dealt with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on regular business operations.
Some of the concerns flagged by ITDMs were cost (57%), security (57%), and availability (49%), indicating cloud maturity in Singapore.
Alibaba Cloud Intelligence general manager for Singapore Derek Wang mentioned that the maturity of IT and cloud infrastructure, as well as attitudes in Singapore, meant that it is already a question of how to use existing clouds more effectively.
“Having realized much of the immediate benefits of moving to the cloud, the challenge for businesses here is to create new cloud-based solutions to avoid the diminishing returns trap,” Wang said.
