7-Eleven to invest $1b in sustainability initiatives

This includes setting up solar panels and LED lamps in its stores.

Seven & i Holdings, 7-Eleven’s parent company in Japan, has expressed plans to invest $1b to reach carbon neutrality by 2050, IGD reported.

Some of the initiatives include setting up photovoltaic panels and LED lamps in its stores. The announcement follows other Japanese retailers such as FamilyMart, which is also targeting zero emissions by 2050, IGD noted.

In Australia, 7-Eleven is also offering to send parcels through its ParcelMate service for $0.74 (A$1). The offer will run for three consecutive Mondays, with the last one on 7 December. ParcelMate is available in more than 530 stores.
